The teams met three times in the regular season, with Gwinnett holding a 2-1 advantage. The Majic won the first game, 102-98, on May 14 at Berkmar High School in Lilburn, Ga. Franklin took the second game, 105-88, at the A-Game Sportsplex in Franklin on June 5, but Gwinnett won the third meeting, 131-107, at Bogan Park in Buford on July 9.
Gwinnett - which is 21-4 in its last 25 games dating back to May 2009 - is looking to bring home its second straight WBA title. The Majic enter the championship game on a roll, having won their last eight straight games. Gwinnett's last loss came back on June 5, when the Majic dropped a 105-88 decision to the Knights in Franklin. Since then, they've scored at least 110 points in all eight wins and won their final two regular-season games by an average of 32 points.
Franklin was only 1-2 against the Majic this season, but it excelled against the rest of the WBA, allowing the Knights to qualify for the championship game. Franklin - which started the season 0-2 and rebounded to qualify for the title game - was 7-2 against the remainder of the WBA, including posting three road wins and sweeping a late-season home-and-home series against the Marietta Storm, to make it to the title game in its first season as a WBA franchise.
Tickets to the WBA championship game are just $5 and for more information about the Majic, Knights and the WBA go to www.wbaball.net, www.gwinnettmajic.com and franklinknights.net.
